Foods that Curb Hunger

Curbing hunger is one of the chief menaces of dieting and mainly the reason why most people dread it. However, there is absolutely no reason for you to go hungry on a diet as there are healthy snacks and drinks aplenty that will help you stay fit and stick to your calorie count. Some of the healthy snacks that curb hunger and help you feel full for a while.

Sweet Potatoes

These can be boiled and eaten as a delicious chaat with sprouts, coriander and just a squeeze of lime juice.They are full of Vitamin A & C and contain a special starch that is resistant to digestive enzymes therefore helping you stay full longer.

Boiled Eggs

These can be snacked upon with a dash of cayenne pepper and salt or even with simple ‘ol ketchup and mustard. While eggs help you stay full for over 24 hours, cayenne pepper boosts metabolism, helping you burn extra calories and hence giving the extra push.

Apple and Avocado Salad

While apples contain soluble fibers and pectin that help you stay full; avocados contain heart healthy mono-unsaturated fats. See why this is a good idea?

Nuts and Seeds

Almonds are a rich source of Vitamin E, Magnesium and Antioxidants and can be had raw or roasted. Flax Seeds on the other hand are rich in soluble fibers and essential fatty acids and can be added to yoghurt, smoothies or salads. Plus, they make for a light and convenient snack to munch on when you start feeling those hunger pangs. Keep em close!

Oatmeal

The carbohydrates present in oatmeal are slow digesting as they suppress the hunger hormone ghrelin and make you feel full a little longer.

Other healthy snacking options are salads with abundant green leafy vegetables, roasted chick peas, soy nuts, and tofu. Then there’s always dark chocolate (to not binge!), pickled plums and fishes like Salmon, Tuna and Sole.

So, when those hunger pangs strike you untimely, choose one of these to tackle them and stick to your calorie count!
